Helping Neighbors

It’s more than a lending a hand. It’s supporting those in need.

NIPSCO is committed to meeting the needs of low-income, elderly and disabled customers, as well as those hit hardest by the economy.

Continued strong funding for enhanced energy assistance programs

NIPSCO provides $1 million in funding for low-income customer assistance programs each year. These programs – which provide assistance to customers falling behind on their energy bills, or who are unable to meet deposit requirements – are vital to the safety and well-being of individuals and families across our service area.

Supporting Those in Need

NIPSCO is partnering with the NiSource Charitable Foundation to fund local human services agencies that provide grassroots assistance and support to individuals and working families hardest hit by the economic downturn. NIPSCO and the NiSource Charitable Foundation will contribute more than $1 million over the next two years to agencies that provide assistance ranging from food and shelter, home weatherization programs, energy education programs and bill assistance.

In addition, NIPSCO has reduced the deposit requirement for low-income customers to $50 for both natural gas and electric service. We are working with low-income assistance agencies to implement this change by October 4, 2010.

It’s important to NIPSCO that our customers contact us with bill-payment trouble immediately to discuss potential budget or bill-payment solutions or assistance options.
